A local community living by the ancient woodland is calling for the Environment Agency (EA) to “do the right thing” and immediately secure the funding to clear up the mess. Hoad’s Wood is a beauty spot in Ashford, Kent, designated a site of special scientific interest, but is now described as an “environmental disaster”. Campaigners have said the bluebell woodland has turned into a “desolate wasteland” buried under landfill waste, which in some areas is 25-foot-deep. An EA spokesperson said it is aware of the impact fly-tipping has on communities and is determined to “keep one step ahead” of the criminals. Elijah Kahlenberg, a Jewish-American student who took part in the pro-Palestinian protests at the University of Texas at Austin, said he believes Israel’s actions in Gaza “do constitute genocide”. The 21-year-old told Al Jazeera: “In most Jewish education when it comes to Palestinians, you’re not told about 1948. You’re not told about the Nakba. You’re typically told sometimes outright racist things about Arabs and Palestinians. I began a process of unpacking a lot of what I was told in Hebrew school, but also engaging with Palestinians and the conclusion I came to is that Palestinian culture is more similar to my culture than to any other culture in the world.” He said that speaking out on behalf of Palestinians is not anti-Semitic. “I’ve personally dealt with a lot of accusations that I’m either a self-hating Jew, and even worse, some have called me a Kapo, which is a Jew sellout of fellow Jews to the Nazis, all for the stances I’ve taken for my Palestinian brothers and sisters. And that’s personally very hurtful to me. I lost family in the Holocaust. But it doesn’t stop me. I understand what I’m doing is just. I am standing with my Palestinian brothers and sisters for a very noble cause. Princess Catherine and Prince William were given new titles this week!  On April 23, King Charles announced several new appointments for The Order of The Garter… …including new roles for members of the Royal Family. Buckingham Palace has released this new photo of the King and Queen. The picture was taken in the Buckingham Palace garden on the morning of 10th April, the day after Their Majesties’ 19th wedding anniversary. The palace shared that Charles is ready to resume some public-facing duties and very grateful to his medical team for their continued care and expertise. “His Majesty’s medical team are very encouraged by the progress made so far and remain positive about The King’s continued recovery”. A group of militants attacked a police checkpoint in Russia's North Caucasus region, killing two officers, officials said Monday.
