President Trump announced during his State of the Union address that he will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Team USA hockey goalie Connor Hellebuyck. Trump said the award has been given to “many athletes over the years.” Hellebuyck made 41 saves, many of them spectacular, during the United States’ 2-1 victory over Canada for the gold medal at the Milan Cortina Games.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justices Elena Kagan, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett took their seats in front of the House dais as President Trump prepared to deliver the State of the Union. Trump last week called some of the justices “disloyal” after the high court delivered a ruling that struck down his tariff regime on imported goods.

The United States is assembling its greatest military firepower in decades in the Middle East, including aircraft carrier  Gerald R. Ford, which is in the Mediterranean. Iranians await for talks this week in Geneva that may give their country its last chance to strike a deal with President Donald Trump. For many, the situation feels hopeless.
