Ranbir Kapoor says that while he doesn't love the promotion side of his job, he's happy to do it for "Ramayana." The Indian star leads an ambitious new two-part film epic aiming to share the sacred Hindu stories with audiences around the world. Kapoor spoke with AP entertainment journalist Ryan Pearson at an IMAX theatre in Burbank, Calif., joined by director Nitesh Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra, head of Prime Focus studio and visual effects studio DNEG. The three took a break in production on the second film for a quick publicity tour to California and New York. The first film is coming to theatres on the Indian Diwali holiday in November, and the second is set for release in October 2027. Malhotra and Tiwari say they consulted with religious experts as they crafted their version of the story, which has been adapted many times for past film and TV projects — with some drawing criticism for religious insensitivities. The film's production includes Hollywood talent like stunt coordinator Terry Notary and second unit director Guy Norris, as well as contributions from the composers Hans Zimmer and A.R.
