Dressed in old military-style clothes, they stage a mock coup d’état and impose absurd laws on the population. Anyone who breaks these rules must pay a fine, which is collected for charity. The center of the 200 year old festival is the “battle” using flour, eggs, and firecrackers, turning the streets into a white and sticky battlefield.
