Favorites and Alerts
Never miss the news and the reporters you care about. Choose your favorites, and LiveTube alerts you the moment something goes live near you or from the people and topics you follow.

You Are in Control
Alerts are opt-in. You pick what matters, categories, reporters, upcoming events, or news near you, and we send an alert when a livestream starts. You manage everything from the bell in the app.

Favorite Categories
In My Favorites, pick the LiveTube categories you care about, such as politics, weather, sports and more. Your categories shape what you see in the app, and you get an alert when a livestream starts in one of them.
Favorite LiveTubers
In My LiveTubers, follow the reporters you want to keep up with. When one of your favorite LiveTubers goes live, you get an alert. Adding a favorite turns its alert on automatically, and you can switch it off anytime in My Alerts.
Upcoming LiveTubes and Series
Some LiveTubes are scheduled in advance, single events or ongoing series. In the Watch tab, open Upcoming and tap the green check to subscribe. You get an alert when it goes live, and for a series, every time a new stream starts.

Close To Me
Want the news happening around you? Close To Me shows livestreams near your location. Set your radius anywhere from 5 to 100 miles with the slider in Settings, and choose what you want to see in the Close To Me category. This uses your location, so location access is required. See how we use your location.

My Alerts and the Bell
Everything lives under the bell. Tap it to open your notification center and manage your alerts in three groups:
- Favorites, the categories you chose
- LiveTubers, the specific people you follow
- LiveTubes, the scheduled events and series you subscribed to
The settings wheel lets you turn any favorite or alert on or off. You only ever get alerts for things you have chosen.
Turn On Notifications
For alerts to reach you, notifications must be enabled for LiveTube on your iPhone or Android. For Close To Me and for location-based news requests, set location access to Always, so we can tell when a newsworthy event is happening near you.
From the Newsroom
Sometimes our newsroom reaches out. We can send you a direct message with a request or an offer, or a location-based alert to your area when news is breaking near you and we would like a livestream. These appear as a notification and in your Alerts center under the bell.
Location-based outreach needs location set to Always, otherwise we cannot tell that an event is near you. We take privacy seriously: we do not track you. We can only send an alert to an area, or a direct message to you, and we have no way to follow a specific person's location. Read more about how we use your location.

For Reporters: Special Pay
When a story is worth more, we pay more. Special Pay offers appear in the GO LIVE screen for specific locations where we are paying a premium, and the newsroom can send you a private or location-based Special Pay offer when there is something to cover near you. See Payments for how pay works.
